The New River Lodge is nested in the Blue Ridge Mountains on the South Fork of the New River. The New River is the second oldest river in the world and second only to the Nile River in Africa.
The lodge is 15 minutes from historical West Jefferson, N.C., 30 minutes from Boone N.C. and 40 minutes from Blowing Rock N.C. For those who like shopping or just enjoying exploring, these three historical mountain towns will be memorable and a rewarding trip for you.
The Blue Ridge Parkway is just across the ridge (as mountain folks say) from the Lodge (10 to 15 minute trip). I would suggest traveling the Parkway if you decide to visit Boone or Blowing Rock. You will enjoy the scenic views from the various overlooks which offers the wonder and beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains. During leaf season in September and October the Blue Ridge displays its color for all to enjoy. The Parkway drive is especially a must do event during this time. Be sure to bring your camera to capture this once a year presentation of nature showing its color before the crisp air of the winter takes control in these mountains. Winter in the Blue Ridge is also a beautiful event. The annual Christmas tree harvest provides a special time of the year with the anticipation of a beautiful white blanket of snow laying over the mountains as the fireplaces provide warmth and comfort to the mountain residents and guest. The Lodge has six wood burning fire places and plenty of wood to keep you warm.
We welcome your visit and look forward to your return!
